*Subject: Automation Consultant* *Location: Racine, WI (1/2 between Milwaukee & Chicago) * *Duration: 3+ months* *Rate: market* The candidate is responsible for support for all monitoring and automations technologies. Primary responsibility is to implement automated resolutions to reoccurring issues not easily solved by platform engineering with appropriate notification and escalation procedures. Daily responsibilities typically involve modification of network equipment monitoring and creating specific procedures to handle events on AIX, Linux, or Windows platform applications or Operating Systems. As the contract resource on a team with two natural employees, an individual responsibility is to teach the technology essential to the teams' function to the other team members. Our teams' current project is the conversion of all monitoring to SolarWinds suite and SCOM 2007. This project includes the sunset of MOM 2005 and DCSM, an in-house developed framework that runs on Perl, Shell, and SQL 2005. * Develop automated solutions that deliver effective problem identification, escalation and resolution of computer system incidents. * Communicate at any level in the business, including technical staff, management, business clients and vendors. * Willingness to work in an environment that relies on the principles of teamwork. * Work with the TDS Integration Release team to analyze and implement all product patch installations and upgrades of the enterprise system toolset * Develop and communicate event resolution procedures and provide the proper level of training to team members. * Evaluate and recommend infrastructure tool enhancements. * Rotational off-hours on call support. Required Skills: * Working knowledge of the operating systems (ie. Cisco IOS, Linux, Unix, Windows Server 200X, etc.), network protocols, database and applications concepts. * Working knowledge of scripting (ie. KornShell, Perl, PowerShell, Visual Basic, etc.) * Familiarity with TCP/IP (ie.
