Duration: 6m+
New role at 1301. Looking for a 5 year plus Core Java Developer. Strong Core
Java experience, specifically with version 1.6. Strong knowledge of Spring
framework, specifically 3.0. Candidate must have a good background on the DB
end as well, preferably SQL Server 2005/2008. Candidate should have worked
on DataMart Solutions in prior experience. Industry preferred, not required.
Main Function
This is a analyst/developer role to build a new scalable, global and
performant DataMart solution that will form the basis of all future client
and internal reporting out of Exposure Manager (application manages
collateral for Barclays Capital OTC Derivatives business globally). The role
requires an experienced Java developer who has a proven track record
of working on DataMart solutions. Good communication skills are essential.
Main Duties
The main duties of this role include:
- Functional / Technical analysis based upon supplied business
requirements
- Work with BAs and users to create functional / technical design and
document it
- Provide technical input to risk analysis and change control
- Work with the Development/Project Manager to estimate tasks
- Development of robust and practical solutions
- Perform peer reviews, SIT and UAT support
- Accurately report project status to PM
Person Requirements
Strong Core Java 1.6 and Spring 3.0 hands on experience
- Messaging JMS/EMS experience required
- In-depth knowledge of SOA
- Distributed Cache -Coherence experience desired
- Spring Integration or Apache Camel experience is a plus
- Linux and Shell programming knowledge required
- Experience in design and building Java libraries / frameworks
- Strong Database development skills in SQL, Stored Procedures as well as
performance tuning
- SQL Server 2005/2008
- Experience with building high volume & distributed systems is
preferable
- Unit Testing
- Good work ethic
- Ability to understand existing codebase and change accordingly
- Flexible attitude, ability to perform under pressure.
- A commitment to quality and a thorough approach to the work
- Ability to work well within a team
- Experience of source control system: SVN in particular

Ability to retro-fit unit testing to existing codebase
