Island**, NY*

This is for a Standard (not Advanced or Architect-level) SAN storage
administration on Hitachi (AMS, USPV, and VSP).
Not expected to be architecting or performing complex SAN operations but
rather, day to day management on the HDS arrays with HDS software (storage
provisioning).
Regarding software: preference and focus on Hitachi Command Suite (HCS) 7.x
(specifically Device Manager, Tuning Manager, Tiered Storage Manager).
Considering how HCS 7.x is relatively new, at least Device Manager 6.x
proficiency required. They do not use Storage Navigator (unless they have
to).
Also, another expectation: general unix/linux/windows scripting. Nothing
fancy. Just to automate tasks to access the SAN storage from the host side.
Below are the other general requirements which SAN admin who has worked on
Hitachi should have.
AMS Storage
Carve, map, and present LUNs from AMS arrays, operate Storage
Navigator Modular 2, explain machine components and function
USP and VSP Storage
Carve, map, and present LUNs from HDS Enterprise arrays, operate
Storage Navigator, explain machine components and function
Device Manager Installation
Installation of HDvM, including basic configuration, initial
discovery, and explanation of features
Tiered Storage Manager
Basic installation of HTSM, including configuration of connection to
HDvM
Tuning Manager Installation
Basic installation of HTnM, including configuration and deployment
of agents and connection to HDvM
Device Manager Usage
Basic HDvM operation and usage - viewing reports, LUN creation and
mapping
Environment Discovery and Data Collection
Discover server, storage, and SAN environment utilizing HDS tools
Brocade SAN Basics
Creation and editing of zones using the GUI
Dynamic Provisioning
Mapping of LUNs in an existing HDP installation on modular or
enterprise storage - including creation of Virtual Volumes from existing
POOLs
Dynamic Provisioning Expansion
Adding storage to HDP POOLs in an existing HDP environment
