Position: Technical Support Specialist Location: Austin /TX Duration: 1 months + Extendable Client: State of TX / Texas Facilities Commission Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals. Documents, maintains, upgrades or replaces hardware and software systems. Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security, and systems groups. Performs basic operation, monitoring, installation, trouble shooting, relocations, or maintenance of network equipment. Identifies and resolves basic workstation problems. Prepares or assists in the preparation of service record documentation. Shows awareness of standards and regulatory requirements related to assigned tasks. Provides technical assistance and support for applications and hardware problems. Installs, maintains, moves, and assists in testing and upgrading new and existing hardware/software. Maintains the necessary security controls over software. II. WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Requirements: Years Skills/Experience 4 Experience implementing shared software, such as operating systems, configuration management tools, application and development tools, testing tools, compilers, and code editors. 4 Experience assisting in coordination of changes, upgrades and new products, ensuring systems shall operate correctly in current and future environment. 4 Experience providing accurate and complete answers to general use and administrative environment questions in a timely manner. Strong Experience managing and reporting time spent on all work activities. Strong Communication skills and experience communicating accurate and useful status updates. Strong Ability to work in a team environment. Strong Experience working under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Preferences: Years Skills/Experience 8+ Provide service and preventive maintenance activities on terminals, printers, personal computers, etc 8+ Basic knowledge of Novell file and print services, Microsoft Office products, and Lotus Notes Email and Applications. 8+ Read and comprehend technical service manuals and publications. 8+ Knowledge of basic mathematics to read and understand various gauges, meters, and measurement devices. 8+ Able to diagnose and repair products by replacing worn or broken parts, and making technical adjustments. 8+ Makes appropriate use of reference publications and diagnostic aids in resolving technical problems.
