*SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: *Work in the IT Infrastructure department, Database Administration group, to build and support cutting edge database solutions. Perform database and specific application administration, project implementation and support duties for large-scale systems utilizing Oracle RDMS (11g RAC) on Unix/Linux platforms. Serve as a proactive technical expert who performs a variety of administrative and technical work using defined standards, constraints and system requirements to design and manage the databases of the corporate enterprise. Work includes research, development, planning and designing of complex, scalable and highly-available business systems using the latest technology such as Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) and Microsoft SQLServer 2008. Install, patch and support specific 3rd party application software such as Oracle Enterprise Business Suite. In addition, this position requires the candidate to provide upper-tier functions including troubleshooting, performance tuning, upgrading and systems management in production, test, and development environments. *ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* 1. Develop extensive knowledge of Clients business processes and technical environment. This includes all environments, software tools, business policies, management utilities and procedures. 2. Administer database and application solutions in a complex high availability environment and oversee the installation, configuration and upgrade of associated database and/or application software. 3. Proactively manage and monitor the day-to-day activities of the databases to correct problems, provide performance tuning and predict future usage requirements. 4. Responsible for the creation of backup/recover plans and perform testing to ensure protection of the company's data assets. 5. Possess high level of technical knowledge to assist management with setting database strategy and maintaining the company on the “cutting edge" of current database technology offering the highest reliability and performance possible. 6. Serve as interface with System Administrators, other IT personnel, data analysts from other departments, and vendors to facilitate problem solving and provide quality systems through database design, troubleshooting, and scrubbing of system data. 7.
