*Primary Responsibilities*
Quickly learn and build upon existing products and technologies
Use analytic skills to deal with requirements and/or issues that may be
loosely defined and the ability to further manipulate and expand on them.
Design and implement new application functionality, including ground-up
product development
Work with technical lead to design and implement solutions
Develop and implement testing strategies
Create low-level implementation specifications and documentation
Create estimates of development tasks
*Desired Qualifications*
An understanding of Agile software development principals such as Scrum,
Continuous Integration, and test-driven development
5+ years experience implementing OO solutions
Knowledge of Java EE technologies and experience with at least one
Java-based application server
Experience doing web application and enterprise software development
Experience designing and implementing robust and reusable system
integrations
Experience developing component and implementation documentation
Experience developing web interfaces in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX
An understanding of database design and familiarity with database
performance/tuning issues
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
A desire to learn new skills and technologies
*Required Experience*
5+ years experience with Java and Java EE
5+ years experience doing web application development: JSP,
servlets
Experience with client-side development toolsets such as
jQuery or Prototype
Experience with messaging frameworks such as MSMQ or workflow
engines.
Experience with Java-based application servers: WebLogic,
JBOSS, Glassfish, or equivalent
Experience with an MVC UI framework such as Struts or JSF
Web technologies: XML, XSL, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX
SQL and RDBMS technologies: Oracle, SQL Server or equivalent
Knowledge of UNIX, particularly Linux
*Desired Experience*
Experience developing web service API’s in REST and/or JSON
Experience developing in Flash/Flex, Silverlight, and/or HTML

Familiarity with content digital asset management systems
Familiarity with video compression tools
Familiarity with satellite and cable technologies
Familiarity with metadata encoding standards such as EMA and
ADI
Experience working with store-and-forward technologies such as
Aspera and KenCast
An understanding of production and postproduction workflows.
