Location: El Segundo, California Duration: 4 months, possible conversion to full time (would prefer consultants who are Green Card or US Citizen because of the conversion requirements, but will consider others) Actual job description: Must have skills of a technical lead with excellent communication and analytical skills; 5+ years as a senior level MS SQLServer 2005/2008. DBA with hands-on experience and solid knowledge of overall MS SQL server architecture; strong experience in T-SQL programming, writing, and optimizing T-SQL and DTS stored procedures, functions and triggers, and T-SQL querying; strong experience with data migration from legacy systems; experience in managing database schema changes, security, storage and data in a production environment. Must have some experience with server hardware and Microsoft Windows operating systems. Data warehouse skills like star schema and data marts Comfortable with remote server environments Database Design • Conduct performance monitoring and optimize physical design for various DB access methods (DB2). • Perform capacity planning activities as related to database storage • Assist with the SQLServer production support, including participation in production on-call rotation. • Work closely with Data Architects, ETL team, applications development and information delivery teams. • Suggest and implement departmental standards and procedures for database administration. • Work with database vendors and external support on issues such as upgrades, technical problems and solutions. • Develop, test and implement backup and recovery strategy. • Follow division's change control and applications deployment and access control procedures. • Develop database monitoring procedures and utilities. • Coordinate other DBA's/teams on infrastructure enhancements or large development projects.
