Client is Looking for a qualified resource with proven database
administrator III experience working with multi-disciplinary and
multi-departmental teams. Sound communication and facilitation skills,
capable of effective communication will all levels of County and project
staff including Executive, Management, and line of business personnel.
The primary responsibility of this position is to function as Database
Administrator for the Application Development and Infrastructure/Operations
Support group within the Assessor Clerk Recorder’s office. This position
will provide database designs, integration and maintenance of complex
enterprise databases in conjunction with supporting application development
and infrastructure/operational support teams. Additionally this position
will maintain database backups, logs, journals, recovery systems, database
migration and archiving systems and procedures. Other responsibilities will
include maintaining availability and integrity of databases, sharing of
common data, overseeing proper key and index management and data dictionary
maintenance, and upgrading software. As DBA you will be responsible for the
installation, maintenance, and monitoring of the database system. The DBA
will also ensure system availability, usability, and survivability. You
will manage reporting systems and develop policies and procedures in
regards to security, backup schedules, restoration, and general database
development.
*KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS *
-Strong technical skills in managing MS SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008 R2,
Oracle 10g and 11g R2.
-Strong technical skills in MS SQL Server database administration
including: Performance Tuning, Backup and Recovery, Database Mirroring, Log
Shipping, DTS, SSIS, SSRS, TSQL, Stored Procedures, Security -Management,
and SQL Server Management Studio.
-Technical skills in Oracle database administration including: RMAN, ASM,
RAC, PL/SQL, Security Management and TOAD
-Has a wide range of experience and able to resolve complex issues.
Exercises good judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation
criteria for obtaining solutions.
-Excellent knowledge of database administration, Software Development Life
Cycle (SDLC), and systems analysis procedures.
-Excellent working knowledge of Windows Servers 2003 - 2008 R2 OS, Basic
server management tasks and PowerShell.
-Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills needed to transfer
information to individuals involved in development process. Excellent
presentation skills.
-Excellent organizational and time management skills.
-Able to design databases according to industry standards and make tuning
recommendations.
-Able to write and optimize complex queries.
-Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) a plus.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
-Maintains several database environments; applies updates, maintenance
packs, patches, & fixes for all environments.
-Performs advanced database administration activities including;
installation, configuration, monitoring, space management, database backup
and recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
-Prepares scripts to automate administration tasks.
-Prepares implementation plans for application upgrades and may coordinate
rollout.
-Monitors server performance and makes changes as needed.
-Optimizes database accessibility by developing load balancing
architectures and processes to eliminate down time for backup processes.
Limits database accessibility based upon information security level.
-Implements and supports database security regulations, policies, and
guidelines.
-Works closely with developers, and support teams to design and optimize
all DB environments.
-Perform SQL Code review and provide guidance to development team.
-Writes and reviews stored procedures and makes recommendations for
optimization.
-Research and troubleshoot Database related software issues.
-Be available as needed for on call rotation and after hour’s maintenance
and emergencies.
-Support and maintains the Enterprise Content Management System (Captiva
/Documentum) Databases.
-Perform basic project management for database level tasks.
-Utilizing analytical reasoning abilities and collaboration efforts in
troubleshooting issues with the various development teams
-Mentors new DBA staff and provides training.
-Assist in the analysis and purchase decisions of vendor products.
-Communicate (verbally and in writing) issues to appropriate staff and
customers.
