*Requirement*:
Database Administrator
Indianapolis, US
6 months+
Rates-$50
Familiarity in working with research systems and scientists to understand
their needs and questions.
A minimum of 5 years in an IT role
Experience in building and maintaining complex database systems in a
variety of technologies. These include ORACLE, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres.
Any previous experience working with VM farms is very valuable.
2-3 Years of Work experience in DBA is a must
· Establishing new databases in a variety of database technologies
(ORACLE, SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres). This will include, creation, user
set-up, security administration, and establishing backup procedures.
· Monitoring performance and table space on current databases and
working with project teams to ensure that systems are optimized. Tune
systems where necessary to maximise performance. Create views and refine
query strategies to
· Transitioning current databases to VM farm. Working with
development groups to ensure that performance and security are not
compromised through transfer, deploying new systems to production, and
archiving old systems.
· Ensuring that current database backup strategies are effective
and performing periodic restores to ensure that data are not lost.
· Track and document new system needs as part of development
activities.
· Support to vendor applications requiring database installation
and maintenance to ensure that new installations are met in a timely manner
in accordance with Dow requirements.
