Client: State of IA / DHS-DDM Location: Des Moines, IA Duration: 12 months + (subject to 5 renewal of 1 year each) Position: Mainframe Developer In-person interview Due Date: 08/20/2012 No. of Submission: 3 Description: The selected candidates must have experience analyzing existing implementations with little or no documentation. They must be able build a "picture" of the existing interfaces, document this "picture", perform detailed analysis on the data elements and implemented business rules, and document this analysis for two different audiences, the first, the technical team leaders, and second, the business users. The selected candidates are not intended to be used in a Development role, but prior development experience is considered a must as reading/understanding code is needed to perform good systems analysis. The selected candidates will help create business and system use cases to define the features and criticalness of each interface. Demonstrated through prior experience the ability to: • Trace and document data flows by reading & analyzing JCL, COBOL programs, CICS definitions, IBM and 3rd party utility control cards, Easytrieve/Dyl280/Culprit type programs, and other common mainframe data manipulation processes. • Extracting and documenting Business Rules embedded in COBOL (CICS and Batch) programs, third party utilities, and other data manipulation products. This includes both business and functional aspects of the business rules. • Create a document describing the data transformation for every data element over a specific period of time (daily, weekly, monthly). • Defining and documenting existing Business Processes. • Generate visually appealing diagrams using Visio that describe the data flow and transformations at a micro and macro level. • Accurately prepare written correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional and engaging. • Perform the work within the specified time frames. • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio. • Demonstrated ability of high levels of interpersonal and communication skills. • Demonstrated ability of Self motivation, self-direction, and able to work with little or no supervision. • Must have at least five years of experience • The emphasis is on Systems (Technical) Analysis, but prior Mainframe Development Experience in COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM etc., is a must.
