Resolving problems and answers questions related to the databases; contacts vendor support when necessary; facilitating client problem resolution with optimum speed and efficiency. Closely monitoring performance; identifying problems and implementing solutions; ensuring the database is running at optimum speed and efficiency. Conducting consistent database structure reviews for data integrity, performance quality, recoverability, maintenance, and space requirement considerations. Ensuring continuous and adequate database backup and recovery and timely refreshes. Participating in the evaluation and recommendation of DBA tools and new DBMS technologies. Producing entity relationship diagrams, data flow diagrams, database normalization schemas, logical-to- physical database mapping, and data table parameter documentation. Leading installations and upgrades. Making recommendations regarding in the definition and development of database documentation and standards. Participating in the on-call rotation. Providing high level estimates and task lists required to complete database tasks and/or projects. Maintaining appropriate database test environments to ensure thorough testing. Follows change control processes for changes to production environments. Provides production environment measurable reports to management as necessary.
