*ETL/SSIS Developer*

*Summary:**
*The Senior Database Developer participates in technical design,
development and implementation of database requirements. Key development
activities include ETL development, report writing and dashboard
development and SQL programming (i.e., SQL stored procedures, triggers,
etc.) This individual supports and adheres to the Database Development Life
Cycle, including scoping, estimating, developing project plans, and
progress reporting. This individual supports the organization and
coordination of data integrity improvement processes.

The Senior Database Developer has the ability to work fairly independently
with strong decision-making skills and verbal communication skills. He/she
has the ability to comprehend and translate requirements into application
design and development models as well as execute them to create
deliverables. He/she has the ability to research and follow through on
reported data issues. This individual can work independently or as part of
a team in application development or problem resolution situations.

Special projects and or analysis in support of projects will be assigned
from time to time based on priorities and time availability

*Required Skills (in order of importance):*
- Strong T-SQL skills (T-SQL embedded into SSIS)
- Strong with reading and writing Stored Procedures
- Strong SSIS experience
- Expert knowledge of SQL
- Go beyond simple ETL solutions by using the power of the SQL Server
2005/2008 and Microsoft .NET platform
- Experience with very large databases and/or data warehousing
- Experience creating and implementing physical databases from Logical Data
Models
- Experience with data management, versioning of data, backups, etc
- Database optimization experience and experience using database-monitoring
tools
- Experience with Business Object Data Integrator (a plus)

*EDUCATION and/ or EXPERIENCE** *
- Bachelor's Degree preferably in Computer Science or equivalent work
experience
- Experience with database development, design and data modeling in a data
warehouse environment. Includes the use of data modeling tools such as
ERWIN to effectively support a data warehouse environment. 2-3 years
minimum.
- Experience in a data warehouse development- 3-5 years minimum
- Experience in healthcare data environment is a plus
- Experience with database design, ETL and modeling in a data warehouse
environment
- Ability to analyze business requirement and translate them into
database/data warehouse system requirements
- Understand and be able to perform administrative duties associate with
metadata, data reconciliation, and data quality
- Ability to research data problems reported by customers

*KNOWLEDGE*
- ETL development & report writing best practices
- Healthcare knowledge a plus
- Microsoft Word, Access, Visio, Excel, and Project applications
- Data warehousing development lifecycle and methodology

*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties
may be assigned.** **
*Database Development 70%
1.1 Build and maintain data warehouse databases. Design, code, test, and
implement complex programs and scripts.
1.2 Write scripts and commands for data manipulation.
1.3 Develop ETL jobs using standard ETL platforms.
1.4 Write and debug SQL (including stored procedures, triggers, etc.)
1.5 Automate data extraction, analysis, and report generation.
1.6 Demonstrate expertise in data extraction of systems.
1.7 Generate and monitor reports and dashboards using enterprise reporting
and business intelligence platforms.
1.8 Compile and organize data to meet business request, including ad-hoc
reports.
1.9 Plan and conduct data warehouse unit system tests, monitor results and
take corrective action as appropriate.

*Support & Data Analysis 20%** *
2.1 Support data environment by obtaining extensive knowledge of databases
and the sources of the information contained therein.
2.2 Help maintain and administer business intelligence platform, including
dashboard management.
2.3 Monitor scheduled ETL jobs-research and determine problems that arise.
Troubleshoot, debug and resolve issues.
2.4 Support processes associated with development, maintenance and
publishing metadata.
2.5 Document procedures, programs, databases, etc.
2.6 Participate in end-user training and help develop and maintain a "self-
service" data environment. (i.e., teaching the business to use standard
query and reporting tools)
2.7 Work with the business to identify and understand reporting and
analytic requirements.
2.8 Work with subject matter experts to evaluate current data quality,
identify possible metrics to measure quality over time, implement metric
collection and review process.
2.9 Advise management on the consistency, reliability, and validity of data.


*Database Architecture & Design 10%** **
*3.1 Design logical and physical database models for data warehouse
applications
3.2 Map data warehouse models to desired reporting capability
