Job Description: The estate consists of approximately 1000 servers that need to be virtualized and Migrated new platform as part of h/w refresh. · Knowledge of virtualization concept · Knowledge of VMWare products for virtualization · Knowledge in designing and provisioning common storage to the ESX servers · Knowledge in designing and implementing LAN switching solutions for the VMware virtual infrastructure · Expert on using VMware P2V Converter tool · Expert on Windows server administration · Expert knowledge on VMWare virtual center · HA and DR solution. Responsibilities: · Will work with vendors in designing the technical high level and low level solution; participate in review solution meetings with vendor and client. · VMware Infrastructure design for X86 architecture with Windows, Linux environment. · Identifying Gaps in the existing VMware implementation which covers VMware servers, virtual machines, virtual machine backup, virtual infrastructure security, Virtual infrastructure storage & Virtual infrastructure networking · Recommendations on the probable mitigation approaches, detailed migration planning, execution of migration with P2V, V2V, P2P in some cases. · Windows server build and implementation experience · Linux build and implementation experience. Required Skills: · Expert in VMware VI3 and VMware Converter tool · Should have scripting (PERL/Shell) knowledge for scripted installs, Comfortable with using Virtual Center. · Sound knowledge of SAN environment · Should be an expert in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 & Windows 2003 including Active Directory. · Excellent troubleshooting skills · Should have worked with OEM hardware (IBM/HP), & remote connectivity tools · Knowledge of Windows Registry, including knowledge of modifying system registry to support installed applications and document configuration changes.
