Here's the Job Description *FULL TIME - Network Engineer - NYC* This role is for a senior data network engineer within the Enterprise Telecommunications Group. The candidate must be able to plan, design, configure, and troubleshoot low latency network infrastructures and enterprise scale institutional and retail financial networks. Key responsibilities for the role include (but not limited to): Providing local and global leadership for standards and designs. Spearheading initiatives to improve network performance. Providing an escalation path for operations and deployment staff. Providing a governance role for large Telco related projects. Certification of new products and services. Representing the group at cross silo and external forums to discuss direction, plans, roadmaps and issues. Skills Required The successful candidate will be expected to possess the complete set of network engineering personality skills including: Innovate - Identify opportunities to enhance, improve and use new ideas and technologies within the environment. Analysis - Identify an issue and determine a solution. Scoping - Ensure the business and technical needs are addressed. Design a solution based on the requirement. Configuration - Create a configuration based on the design and solution. 3rd level troubleshooting - Assist and provide technical lead on data networking issues. Educate & Train - Coach peers and colleagues on new technologies and ideas. Presentation Skills Prepare, construct and deliver formal and informal presentations to illustrate ideas, solutions and issues. Review - Continually review and challenge his own, others and the firms perceived norm The successful candidate will be expected to possess the following technical skills: Exceptional and extensive knowledge of LAN, MAN & WAN architectures; design, protocols, troubleshooting and packet-level analysis. Thorough understanding of core internetworking protocols, products and services including Multicast, OSPF, RIP, BGP. Wide and current knowledge of network hardware products for low latency infrastructure and large financial enterprise Knowledge of scalable, high-speed fabric-based network technologies and architectures including Ethernet and Infiniband. Knowledge of advanced timing and instrumentation systems Knowledge of Dark Fiber engineering and DWDM technology Understand the process for the certification and testing required for networking hardware and software. Ability to supervise technical support staff.
