Title: Sr. Data Engineer (This is basically a BA with data modeling experience) Location: Philadelphia, PA Duration: 6 month contract to perm (so no H-1 candidates please) *****MUST BE ABLE TO DO A F2F**** * Description: The specifics of the role are listed here: The Sr. Data Engineer translates business demand for information into technical requirements, data transformation maps, logical and physical data models to deliver solutions for transactional and reporting systems. Key Responsibilities - Partner with business and other stakeholders to understand information needs. - Critically evaluate requirement information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs. - Reverse-engineer existing reports, code, databases and other existing solutions as required. - Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans. - Proactively communicate and collaborate with customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements to deliver the following artifacts as needed: functional requirements, use cases, source to target data transformation maps, logical and physical data models. - Define data models, both traditional 3rd normal forms and dimensional. - Serves as the conduit between the customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow. - Assist project managers with estimation and planning. - Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of project managers. Terms of Employment: Temp to Perm, with an initial contracting period of 6 months Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering - 5-10 years of experience developing business requirements with an emphasis on data modeling and data transformation. - Solid expertise in SQL queries - Hands-on experience with modeling tools, such as CA ERwin - Experience with data modeling for transactional databases, operational data stores, data warehouses and data marts. - Knowledge of Microsoft Business Intelligence technologies: SQL Server (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS), SharePoint, Report Builder, Excel, etc. - Knowledge of Oracle, Informatica and reporting tools such as Business Objects or Oracle BI Enterprise Edition. - Strong communication and presentation skills. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "US_IT.Groups" group.
