Role: Sr. Business Analyst

Duration: 4 months

Overview: 

The BA will focus more on the Finance organization.  They have Great Plains today and using it as an accounting/revenue recognition application.  The Revenue recognition module is from Tensoft and is an add-on to Great Plains.   They have a mixed view of Great Plains with the CFO wanting to replace it next year and the Controller thinking it is fine for the time being.  Just need to get more out of it.  Will be one of the things the individual can look at in terms of how to extend or replace it.  BA is more than picking and enhancing applications though.  Needs to speak the language of Finance folks, understand/discover the challenges, and propose/implement workable solutions with existing and new applications.

 

Duties:

Ø  Sr. Business Systems Analyst will plan and direct analysis of business problems to be solved with IT systems, will lead meetings and coordinate peers to accomplish set overall strategy, run projects and resolve problems.  Specifics include 1) collaborating with Finance and other organizations to understand  user requirements,  and analyze existing systems, data structures, and workflows, 2) translate business requirements into system functionality requirements,  3) recommend, specify, and manage the efforts to implement improvements in existing systems, 4) evaluate and recommend new systems and applications that may be required to achieve the organization’s objectives, and 5) work with external vendors or internal systems groups to implement new systems and applications. 

Ø  Interpreting user needs and writing functional specifications for new systems, systems changes and / or system enhancements.

Ø  Frequent interaction with all levels of the organization; interpret technical documentation to meet business needs. Correctly identifies system / functional interdependencies.

 

 

Skills and Knowledge Required:

 

·         6-8 years of technological experience 3-5 years of Business analysis experience

·         Deep knowledge of COTS financial systems, Dynamics GP highly preferred

·         Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively at all levels of the organization and with vendors.

·         Able to coordinate professionals facing conflicting priorities.

·         Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with practitioners within the organization and with vendors.

·         Solid understanding of best practices within IT.

·         Ability to initiate ideas and present opportunities.

·         Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs

·         Analytical and methodical problem solver.

·         Ability to thoroughly document business practices and facilitate discussions around process. 

·         Experience as a BSA gathering requirements and best practices implementing solutions with various web technologies

·         Passion for connecting people with community particularly in the ability to connect with the drivers and passions the team shares.

·         Successful track record dealing with executive level professionals to drive business outcomes and an advocate for the project

·         Able to interpret and discuss technical requirements to a nontechnical audience
