The candidate will have the IMS DBA responsibility, with a secondary role providing DB2 DBA support as needed. The candidate should have strong understanding of IMS/DB2 Subsystem and IMS Systems Level Performance, Capacity and Tuning • Monitor and analyze application, DB2 and IMS database performance and recommend methods and solutions to optimize performance. • Demonstrable via past experience ability to utilize Insight to inspect the performance of a DB2 and or IMS subsystem and determine where tuning is needed and the type of tuning needed. • Working knowledge of IMS and DB2 and monitoring software as provided by IBM and/or comparable vendors (BMC, CA, etc.) is required • Thorough knowledge of IMS commands and system definition including DBD, PSB and ACBGEN is required. • Thorough knowledge of IMS Utilities and other tools as provided by IBM or third party vendors is required. • Experience with IMS applications using COBOL batch and CICS Transaction Server is a strong plus. • Experience with large-scale IMS databases, including partitioning is a strong plus. • Knowledge of and experience with IMS HAL DB, partitioning, IMS Message regions, transaction categorization • Knowledge of and experience with using DB2 and or IMS commands to alter buffer pools, perform recovery, list threads and determine their status, manipulate DB2 and or IMS connections with other subsystems (including CICS, DB2 , other IMS systems). • Knowledge of DB2 and or IMS security (RACF) • Working knowledge of DB2 and or IMS system internals and configuration. • Owns and produces documentation. Ability to translate technical details into concise and easy to understand written form. • Participate with developers in application design and code reviews, assisting them optimizing performance, availability, reliability and integrity of DB2 and IMS Database applications. • Good written and verbal communication skills are required.
