Scope of Work CIFS Server on DDR currently supports IPv4 only. For business reasons we need to support IPv6 besides IPv4. The scope of this work is to make necessary enhancements in CIFS server code to fully support IPv6. CIFS Server on DDR consists of three key modules, viz. Samba data path, Likewise authentication and CIFS management. Note: We currently support SMB1 only, there is no SMB2 or SMB3 work involved here. · The Samba data path module includes a sub set of open source Samba implementation (version 3.0.35), the subset mainly includes two key Samba processes smbd and nmbd. We don't use the main authentication module in Samba which is winbindd, also, we don't use certain special Samba features like AD domain controller, printing, etc. · Likewise is a CIFS solution. We currently use only the authentication module in Likewise, we don't use Likewise data path. Likewise authentication module is tightly coupled with few open source libraries like Kerberos and OpenLDAP. · CIFS management includes user interface to manage CIFS configuration, e.g. join DDR to AD domain, create CIFS share, modify existing share, etc. The scope of work is for making all the three CIFS modules mentioned above (including Kerberos and OpenLDAP libraries) IPv6 compliant, which includes necessary design, implementation, unit test, regression test and system test.
