Rate: $45/hr max Start Date:- ASAP Job Description The SAP Senior DBA will be actively involved in the evaluation, review, and management of database resources and services in support of Costco's SAP landscape. They will be responsible for the overall design and vision for Costco's SAP database strategy, while providing the database expertise needed for the SAP Competency Center's success. This position will require an individual who can work with minimal supervision on a wide range of projects interfacing with development teams, business analysts, IS management and members of the business community while constantly ensuring that their work is aligned with the SAP Competency Center's strategic direction. Tasks and responsibilities . Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related discipline), or equivalent experience . 5+ years of experience, including design and advanced trouble-shooting skills, of major web and application tier software offerings. WebSphere Application Server versions 6, 7, 8 and 8.5 as well as Apache/IHS on UNIX and Linux platforms a strong plus. . 5+ years of "hands-on" installation, configuration and administration of WebSphere Application Server and Apache/IHS. Ability to script using Jython, Korn Shell, Perl, a plus. . In-depth knowledge of web systems end to end. Competency in web/application tier system software and hardware and working knowledge of all application components, such as WebSphere MQ, RDBMS's, LDAP is required. . Good working knowledge of the capabilities of current state network devices, particularly load-balancers, DNS and hardware encryption devices. Ability to communicate w/ network personnel in their own language is a must for specifying the use and configuration of these devices. . Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential. . Strong skills in operating systems (Unix, Linux, Windows Server) configuration and maintenance. . Past software engineering or application development experience a strong plus.
