Role: .Net Developer Location: New Haven, CT Duration: 6+ Months Start: Immediate Interview : Phone Then f2f Job Description: General Purpose Reporting to the Team Manager within Research Enterprise Systems, this position implements and supports both custom and third-party application solutions which provide administrative support for the University's research mission. This position is focused on developing, implementing and supporting applications, but also participates in the full application development lifecycle. As a member of the Research Enterprise Systems team, you will work closely with both functional and technical colleagues. Essential Duties 1. Proactively provide ongoing maintenance and support for assigned applications and/or systems including providing ad-hoc reports. 2. Take initiative for troubleshooting problems and timely resolution of issues. 3. Manage vendor patches. Activities include, effective communication with the vendor, timely follow-ups with vendor on patches, managing patch delivery, working with technical/functional team to test and migrate patches to production. 4. Perform technical and functional impact analysis of vendor patches including analysis of data update scripts provided by the vendor. 5. Build custom applications, and configure third-party applications using vendor provided tools including designing, coding, debugging, testing, documenting, and deploying. 6. Work collaboratively with process owners, business analysts, technical staff, and project managers to implement application solutions in the Research Enterprise area of the University. Share knowledge and experience, and partner with team members. Present a professional attitude toward work and the workplace. 7. Combine business and technical knowledge to determine the most appropriate approach to meeting a business need. 8. Apply Yale development methodologies and standards to work activities. 9. Position may require off-hours system support, including periodic on-call responsibilities. Education and Training Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and a minimum of five years experience in analysis, design and development of applications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills and Abilities 1. Experience implementing and managing vendor solutions. 2. Experience with .NET framework (ASP.NET, VB.NET), MVC, C#, HTML, JavaScript, XML, XSLT, SSRS and SSIS. 3. Expertise with Relational Databases (Oracle databases, SQL Server 2005/2008). Ability to write SQL Scripts and Queries 4. Experience with Windows server architecture (windows 2003, 2008), Application Server concepts, understanding of windows permissions and active directory 5. Experience with general Web architecture, such as browsers and middle tier. 6. Familiar with consuming Web Services and WSDLs 7. Experience with version control systems such as SVN. 8. Familiar with release management, deployment management, service management and quality assurance processes. 9. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team, including the ability to work with people from all levels of an organization. 10. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 11. Excellent organization skills, specifically with assigned tasks and use of time. 12. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. 13. Working knowledge of SDLC processes including requirements gathering, design, build, and test. 14. Must be a fast learner with a strong desire and motivation to learn new technologies, Yale and the higher education environment. 15. Preferred - Previous experience working in Research Administration application support with products such as InfoEd and Click Commerce. 16. Preferred - Experience with a variety of technologies and tools, such as Hibernate, Visual Studio, Informatica, OBIEE and other reporting tools.
