This is a problem I had with my ADSL modem, and I've
just spoken to someone on IRC with a similar problem
with a modem.

There doesn't seem to be a way to get GNOME to
automatically connect to the internet when required,
eg when requesting a url in a browser.
You have to go via the network properties, or in my
case, issue root commands in terminal to connect.

Is there something I've missed, or is this something
gnome is currently missing?
