Thanks Alan, you are correct that the windows can be dragged from one workspace to another this will be helpful.
As usual I wasn't very eloquent in my explanation of my desires as a user so
here is a second try at explaining my main desire:
I would like to be able to move the rectangular windows representations
within the desktop workspace rectangle. If you look at the
attached picture, "workspace.jpg" workspace one has some windows which show up
on my left screen and a firefox window that shows up on my
right screen. I use my right screen with my pc quite often and when I open
things in linux they often open to the right screen.
My desire is to be able to click on the firefox window and drag it
across the current workspace to the left screen within the
current workspace. The end result being shown in, "workspace2.jpg".
This isn't a huge issue, but it would be cool and useful for those people who
split multiple screens between machines.
Thanks for your time and attention to my request, sorry for the ambiguity of
the first message. I hope cc'ing the [email protected]
address doesn't spam a bunch of people, if it does; sorry.
Marc

Depending on the request you can often go directly to the developers - of the
Workspace switcher in this case - and file a request in
bugzilla.

This is already possible. I normally avoid workspaces completely on a matter
of principle but once I turned them back on and resized my
panel to a fairly huge 128 pixels and the Workspace switcher expanded it became
easy to click on the mini windows and drag them from one
workspace to another. The problem may simply be that the mini windows are too
difficult to grab on a smaller workspace switcher.
