Recently, I've been attempting to revive gnome-devel-docs. I started it with the Platform Overview that I wrote, and have recently moved the GDP Style Guide and GDP Handbook there. I would like to see this module filled out with more of our documentation.
The types of documents I'd like to have are those that are of interest to people developing against our platform and are intended to be maintained over time. The obvious exception are documents that clearly belong to a particular released module, such as API references. My goal is to include all such documents. Having them all under one module has a number of advantages: 1) People don't have to dig around SVN to find sources. 2) We have a very clear list of what documents we have. 3) We can ensure the documents are maintained and released. A rough overview of what I'd like to see is here: http://live.gnome.org/DeveloperGuides I would like to propose that we move the HIG from its current very buried location into gnome-devel-docs. The Usability Team will still have complete control over the content of the HIG. Since I would like to make actual releases of this module, the content should be in a releasable state at release time. Of course, the Usability Team can always make branches for more long-term changes.
