This may all be less of an issue when Apple releases the iPad 2 and the
iPhone 5 with NFC and uses it for peer-to-peer transactions and later
general consumer transactions with Apple taking a percentage of the
transaction directly from the consumer (billed through iTunes--omg).

We've already seen the success of the Starbucks app. Imagine if it was even
easier using NFC with Apple supplying readers to retailers for free.
Millions of portable devices with the ability to do retail transactions, and
Apple getting their cut from each one. Apple becomes the next
Visa/Mastercard with their $10 billion to cover the float.
