I didn't create a "canvas" - to be honest I couldn't figure out exactly what was involved so I tried what I understood :-)
The +5 isn't a big deal, I was just curious in case 5 wasn't a constant and had to be adjusted depending on, eg, the column width. The current code seems to work OK even if I resize the column so it appears 5 is the number.
