A couple of things you say don't seem quite right, but I'll reply to those points tomorrow. Unfortunately the Acer doesn't charge over USB, so if you let it run down, as it did while I was away for a week, you have a device that can't be run. The power adapter isn't powerful enough to power the device if it's run down, so I'll have to leave it on charge over night to then be able to look at the things I want to comment on.
