I've somehow never noticed that on Linux the "launch document" command behaves synchronously, while it's not synchronous on Mac or IIRC on Windows.

This winds up being especially bad for RunRev: you can't use the IDE after choosing Help->User Guide.

I've filed a bug report for the IDE issue:
<http://quality.runrev.com/show_bug.cgi?id=10649>

Before I file a report on "launch document" itself I wanted to check to see if any of you folks can think of a reason why this should be synchronous, and if you know enough about GTK to point me to the API which could be used for asynchronous launch.

TIA -
