Before letting some software delete files in your place, I highly recommend (on the mac) the usage of Whatsize ( http://whatsizemac.com/ ) which will compute the size of every file and folder on any disk and give you a finder like view of the result. Language resources, like PPC code take little place. However, some software may install gigs of "free clipart" you may not care about. Also, have a look at your Steam games.
