Hmm. Just tried this. Change something in the field, hit "d" to exit with a breakpoint set. Stepping through and into, nothing happens on "select empty" I suppose I *could* in openField "set the origVal of the target to the text of the target", and instead of empty test for origVal and the current value . . . but the select empty is so much more elegant. -- Dr. Richard E.
