Go into the iTunes you use for doing backups of your iPhone, and do a backup. You get there by selecting the iPhone and looking in the lower “Backups” area of the window. In the upper area, perhaps labeled “iPhone 5”, you should see a "Check for Updates" button. Option-click on that, and you can point it to the ipsw file that was on the DMG you have downloaded.
