git integration, but not of LC projects

Has anyone looked at syncing a git repository through LC? Not LC projects -- 
I'm planning an app that has distributed data, and git seems like a reasonable 
way to manage that if I can reasonably control clone, pull, and push, and 
present the results to the user to resolve conflicts. Has anyone already 
written something like this?
