put <data> into url "ftp://host/dir1/dir2/file"; will create a directory if it doesn't exist, but in the current Rev version, only at a single depth. So in the the above example, if dir2 is missing it will get created, but if dir1 is also missing it won't. But you must create the file too. But you could create the file and then delete it if you only want the directory.
