I think I resolved the error. I added "of this stack" to the code, so:

go card "quiz"

becomes:

go card "quiz" of this stack

I would've thought that the message hierarchy could handle this as the card of that name resides in the current stack.
Guess I have to be more specific. I'm probably spoiled by my HyperCard days. (*grin*)
