Actually, people who have Disassociative Identity Disorder (DID -- which is a more recent and far more appropriate name for MPD) also have certain advantages over the single-personality rest of us (or 'singletons' in their jokes on the matter). And some of them refer to it as 'empowerment' ; at any rate, the word 'sickness' is not appropriate, as it is a most intriguing way for a human mind to cope with something it can't comprehend.
