A Revolution variable name:

May be any single string (no spaces) of letters, numbers, or underscores.
Must begin with a letter or underscore (never a number).
Cannot be a Transcript key word.
Is not case sensitive, but capital letters are often useful to improve readability.

I forget where I found these rules, but they were somewhere in the documentation. (Which begs the question that things should be easier to find in the docs.)
