Interestingly, both RealBasic (internally) and Director (via 3rd
party) have support for using encrypted SQLite databases - including
full search functionality, so it would seem that it could be made
possible in Revolution as well.
Anyone can write extensions for SQLite for adding functionality. For
example if you want a sorting algorithm for other languages you have
to write your own extension.
I wonder if RealBasic and Director just took this route.
