I assume, when trying many things to solve your problem :-) you have
written a selectionChanged handler somewhere that intercepts the
message sent by the engine.
Use Edit/Find and Replace... menu item (command F) to find where.

If mouse messages are never sent to an unlocked field (unless the
control key is down), selectionChanged is always sent at mouseUp:
More, it is sent even if the selection has not been changed when you
just click.
If you don't get selectionChanged, it's a problem in your stack ;-)
