Yes, that's what I ended up doing, but I wonder if there is a way to get the standalone application version without re-building the standalone.

It's stored in the bundle's plist on the Mac and probably could be retrieved by a shell call in Windows, but I think storing it yourself in a property is way easier to retrieve.
