Thanks Judy. I was unaware of the 2010 problem too. It shows unbelievable lack of vision when the hardware outlasts the software.
I still run a Psion II PDA from about 1985. It is apparently indestructible. It has been dropped many times, including several occasions when it fell out of my bag whilst I was cycling. I had several later Psions (3mx, 5mx), but they all died within a few years, even though they had far less rough treatment. All my laptops, PCs, Macs are less than 4 years old, and I doubt if I could count the number of PCs I had since I got that Psion II. But the Psion and Newton have kept on going. In both cases it is a lack of foresight about date problems that have limited their future usability.
