HC was given away for free with every Mac, thanks to Bill A. and John Sculley. The HC list always had loads of questions at the most basic level; they were fun to answer and they were satisfying in that the place was filled with fledgling programmers learning to make their way. Like a playground filled with small voices.
The topics on the Rev list are at a much higher level. I don't hear the little voices. Though the docs and tutorials do a creditable job, there is still no Danny Goodman, and that means there should be lots of these queries around. Is not Rev for the rest of us? Because it is beyond the reach of many either in terms of money or in awareness? That it was not handed out on a silver platter? I worry about this. I don't want another HC catastrophe.
