You don't mention which OS you're on, but I wouldn't be surprised if you've hit a 4096 pixel limitation. If you use the 8 megapixel setting on the camera you should be ok, or resize the 13 megapixel images down to 4095 or less across.
I'm on MacOS X, and yes my pictures are taken at 13 Mpx. At 8 Mpx it's work, but it's a "shame".
