Hey - Ho, bringing a discussion initiated by Sivakatirswami (or the "fall out" from it) slightly
more mainstream:

There are a number of writing systems that require characters for which there are neither spaces in the unicode tables nor room enough in the ASCII system. Font for these writing systems normally contain these additional chars in a way where they are referred to by their position inside the font with decimal or hexadecimal numbering; however

numToChar  does not work as these chars are neither within . . . . .

So, has anybody got any bright ideas (apart from typing them with a specialist keyboard
layout) how one can perform the equivalent of numToChar with these chars?
