I have successfully setup a runRev application to work with PosgreSQL on localhost of the same machine that is running the runRev app (OS X).
Now I am ready to connect to a fresh PostgreSQL install on a Vista machine on the LAN. I am trying to use Navicat to move the database from the localhost to the new server installation. I can¹t make the connection. I can ping from one machine to the other, but I can¹t get a response from Postgres. The services are running. Any ideas as to what might be wrong? I know that this is a very basic question with a lot of variables to the specific installations here, but I need to learn how to do this smoothly and easily. I expect to host many, many of these Postgres database on hosted installations, perhaps virtual servers, on the net. Any guidance would be appreciated and any reference works for my education would be appreciated also. I am an experienced database user. I am familiar with MS SQL Server, Openbase, Frontbase, and SQLite. This is my first time with Postgres.
