The only solution in these case is to add lots of Registry information, registering your own protocol, which will probably make windows try to relaunch your standalone for every of those links.
Probably it's a security measure so that an unregistered custom protocol doesn't wipe your hard drive or kill your dog or steal your children's house keys.
