Prefs don't store the licensing info, it's stored separately. I'm not sure where it's stored on Linux systems, but you (or rather Peter) can download the file from your user account and manually point to it during installation. Or easier, just be online during installation and the installer will look up your license. You should only have to do this once per installation.
