Also, the filename extension is not limited to 3 chars. That's a DOS-ism: remember 8.3 filenames? A lot of Apple's own apps use 4 or 5 letter file extensions (.mbox, .pbproj, .plist, .icns, etc) Just make your extension as descriptive as you want!


However the creator code is a 4 character sequence, I think. It need not have any resemblance to the filename extension BTW.
