The original Mac version of Myst was written in Hypercard, but used XCMDS to allow the 
display of color pictures.

Later versions on windows etc, were farmed out by Cyan to other development teams who 
basically re-did the work in traditional languages, using the Mac Hypercard version as 
a reference.

(Oh, and all the 3D was done using Strata 3D, also on the Mac)
