you can try placing a field over your JPEG, set its opaque to false and then
export a snapshot.
From the dictionary:
export snapshot from rect "0,0,200,200" to file "Nav.jpg" as JPEG

But of course, if you started with high resolution JPEGs, remember your snapshot will be much lower resolution, equivalent to typically 96 dpi bitmaps.
