You don't really need LSP except, as Trevor says, it has a way to synch text tracks. What you should have, though, is QT Pro:
...but be aware that Unicode, if you should need that, is broken in QuickTime 6.3 for the Mac. A fix has been promised for the next update (propably due in Panther).
