That problem is now OK, I am writing a guitar scale program which needs to reference strings and frets, so I have now prefixed the names with "FR" and it works.
I will eventually be looking a implementing some Midi output, so I may well be back for some more assistance!.

if you need buttons to show a number, then <set the label of btn "b1" to "1"> works i have a MIDI keyboard set up this way. middle C is "b60", labeled "60".
